Old Fashioned Peanut Butter Bread

I love bread and I love peanut butter so putting the two together just makes sense.  This is a very easy and frugal recipe and uses only basic ingredients, all which you probably have in your pantry right now.  And this recipe requires no kneading or rising time.

·         2 c. all-purpose flour

·         1 ½ c. milk

·         ¾ c. peanut butter

·         1/3 c. sugar

·         1 egg (see NOTE below)

·         1 T. + 1 tsp. baking powder

·         1 tsp. salt

NOTE:  Using an egg will produce a bread that is more cake like.  If you want to leave out the egg, it will still turn out fine but will be denser and more muffin like.

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees.

Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.  Add in the milk, peanut butter and egg (if using).  Stir and then pour into a greased 8” or 9” bread pan.  Bake for 40-45 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.

Goes great with Sugar Free Blueberry Jam, some Crab Apple Jelly, my Coffee Jelly, or with some Cherry Amaretto Jam.
