Taco Sauce is easy to make and is better than any taco sauce you can buy at the store and costs a lot less too. It is tangy, vinegary and very delicious and you probably already have everything you need to make it in your pantry right now.
· 16 oz. can tomato sauce
· 2 T. white vinegar
· 2 tsp. cumin
· 2 tsp. garlic powder
· 1 tsp. onion powder
· 1 tsp. chili powder
· ½ tsp. cayenne pepper
· 1 tsp. oregano
· 1 tsp. sugar
· 1 tsp. salt
· ½ tsp. pepper
· ½ tsp. cayenne pepper
Place all ingredients into a small saucepan and stir well. Heat the mixture up over low heat and cook until it begins to thicken, which will probably take about 20 minutes.
Allow the sauce to cool before serving. It can be kept in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or it can be frozen for later use also.
Serves 12. About 2 grams of carbs per serving.
Can be put onto scrambled eggs or frittatas or serve on Indian Tacos, on loaded baked potatoes, on Tostados, on a Taco Pizza or any other dish that needs a bit of zip added to it.
