This is an easy and quick twist on a grilled cheese sandwich. I love making these about once a week. So comforting and makes a delicious and wonderful sandwich the whole family will love!
- 3-4 slices deli style turkey
- 2 slices of bread (I use either white or wheat)
- 2 slices cheese (I use either Monterey Jack or Provolone)
- 2 slices tomato
- 2 tsp.-1 T. mayonnaise (depending on personal preference)
Heat up a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Allow it to heat up for a minute or two. Spread one side of each slice of bread with the mayonnaise, coating evenly. Lay down the meat, cheese and tomatoes onto the bread that is NOT coated. Top with the other slice of bread with the mayonnaise side out. Place into the pan and fry it until the bread is nice and brown. Flip the sandwich and repeat for the other side.
I prefer using mayonnaise instead of butter because it provides a great flavor and gives a nice crunch to the bread too.
This truly is one of my
favorite sandwiches in the world. Great
when served with some potato salad and tomato soup or with a bowl of chili. Yum!
