No matter if this is your very first pie crust making attempt or you have tried many and failed, this is THE recipe for you. Each and every time you can make a flaky and light pie crust. So easy to roll out and will produce a tender and flaky crust each and every time.
· 3 c. all-purpose flour
· 1 c. shortening (I used Crisco)
· 1 egg, well-beaten
· 4 T. ice cold water
· 1 tsp. white vinegar
· ½ tsp. salt
Mix together the flour and shortening using a pastry blender. In a small bowl, combine egg, water and vinegar. Pour this mixture over the flour mixture and mix GENTLY. Gently mix just until incorporated. Divide dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll out each piece.
Makes enough for 2 double crusts or 4 single pie crusts.
This recipe can easily be doubled and freezes well.
