Belle's New Son (Baby Goats on the Homestead)

On April 26th, our "Belle" gave birth to a little boy was aptly named "Bambi".  He is so small and precious and we just love him.

New Goat on the Homestead: Dainty Girl had a baby girl

On April 24, 2020, our "Dainty Girl" had a little girl.  We let Ronny name her and he called her "Sunshine".  She is just the sweetest little thing.

Such a pretty profile.

Be sure to check out the short video we took too.  It's only 12 seconds but it is 12 seconds of cuteness.  Be sure to have your sound up so you can hear her call out for her momma.  Enjoy!

Elsa's New Babies--Twins Again! (Goats on the Farm)

On March 6, a day after Gracie had her twin girls, Elsa had twins too.  Elsa had a solid white little boy named "CJ: and a solid black little girl named "Midnight".   They are exact opposites in color and personality.  CJ is pretty calm and laid back and Midnight is super rambunctious.  Also, CJ has light blue eyes and Midnight's are a pretty brown.

Baby Goat...

Today at noon, Contessa gave birth to a female and we named her "Carrie Ann".  Contessa was our 2nd goat we got on our homestead.  We got her when she was just 3 weeks old and had rescued her for a large nearby dairy barn.  One of their turkeys had pecked out her eye and with them having so many goats to care for, they couldn't care for her.  We took her (nearly 2 years ago) and have raised her and loved her ever since.  She is half Saanen and half nubian.  Her mate is Casper and he was our first goat here. We purchased him from that same dairy goat farm about 2 weeks prior to taking in Contessa when he was just 3 weeks old too.  Loved bottle feeding the two of them.  Casper is a full blooded Saanen.  Anyway, we bred the two of them together and today baby Carrie Ann was born and we are thrilled.

Hope you enjoyed this and I'll share pics as she grows.  This was Contessa's first birthing and she did great and didn't require any assistance.  So proud!  :-)

Animals of our Homestead

It has been awhile since we did an update on the number of animals on our homestead. Many people believe we are just starting out because I mainly post about the baby animals but that is just because most people want to see babies and older animals just don't seem to be as interesting.
We have been on our homestead 6 years now and have slowly been building up our homestead as we go along.  We don't have much spare money so we have to do it as we can.
We have the "normal" animals like cats and dogs but we have a variety of farm animals too.

This is our only "house" dog....Whitney.

We also have 4 outside dogs which protect our homestead and animals.

Sheera is our main guard dog.

Homestead Animals

We just got 14 baby turkeys.  We have 3 bronze broad breasted and 11 white broad breasted turkey poults.  They are just 3 days old. We will keep a few to raise and the rest will go into the freezer when they are of butchering age.
Goats:  We have a total of 7 goats and are getting one more next month.  The seven goats we currently have are:
     Casper, adult male Saanen goat.
     Jessica, adult female Saanen goat.
    Contessa, adult female Saanen/Nubian goat.
    Chloe, adult female Boer/Pygmy goat
Brownie, adult female, pregnant Dwarf Fainting goat

Elsa, 10 week old female Saanen goat
Cooter, 5 week old male mini Saanen goat

We have 2 standard donkeys.  Minnie and her son Jasper.
We have 19 Coturnix quail, 7 ducks (5 Pekin, a Welsh Harlequin and a Cayuga); 1 rabbit and 75 chickens.   Chicken breeds that we have include:  Red Rangers, Ameracaunas, Rhode Island Reds; Phoenix; Freedom Rangers, Buff Orpingtons, New Hampshire Reds, Barred Rocks; and Welsummer.

We have 2 creeks that run through the property, one pond and we have 3 wells.   We have numerous fruit and nut trees and a massive garden.   So, now you have it.  :-)
