Today I just want to tell you all a bit about our farm. It is 40 acres of farmland and woods. We only own a small part of the 40 acres but we have access to it all. We have 3 wells and a creek that flows year round. We have a pond and a water shed is within a short distance for some great fishing. We have plenty of wildlife roaming our property like deer, raccoon, rabbit, opossum, squirrel, etc.
We have 2 gardens that we grow all kinds of fresh vegetables and fruit. We also have a peach tree, persimmon tree, crab apple trees, walnut trees, and so forth. We have 3
hogs and 18
chickens. We have layers and broilers.
I make homemade bread 3-4 times a week and do a lot of canning. We can vegetables, meat, jams, jellies, etc. We try to live off the land as much as possible. We are always seeking new ways to stretch a dollar. We love eating good food and coming up with new
recipes and meals. In fact, just this week, I cooked a meal that filled us up that cost us less than 50 cents a person.
